Boston Ujima Project is proud to present our new action campaign #necessarySystemsDaily.
Physical distancing allows us the opportunity to reflect on what was clearly possible before and rethink how our society is ordered, beyond emergency. We can formalize both the values and the mechanisms of what are natural and necessary for us, to create the system that we not only want, but also the system that we need.
We must build an adequate system that abundantly cares for our communities. The response to today’s crisis—moratoriums on evictions, the extension of paid sick and family leave, and the release of some people from jails—to protect public health, demonstrates the ease with which we can move. To bring about the systems we have always known we needed, we must lean away from old, individualistic ways of being and build new, collective muscle.
For the duration of this pandemic, we will highlight daily actions, for all of us to do, to practice using the new infrastructure we know we need to create for our #necessarySystem.
